Having scraped a variety of mucus and sputum from my lungs, I’m gradually poling myself back across the river Styx. I’ve even managed to round-up a few strands of optimism, prompting caution. The sense of relief, the desire to take it easy for a while, to kick back and shed some stress – these feelings aren’t to be trusted. The key is to avoid distraction, remain disciplined, and gradually press the advantage. This is harder than it sounds. A friend of mine has been talking up an idea for a game, and while it’s nice to take a 15 minute break to work on a snippet of code – the danger of getting bogged down in the nonessential is a very real one.
